Mitchell E. Nahra, MD

Hand and Upper Extremity

Practice focus:
Dr. Nahra specializes in caring for all disorders of the hand and upper extremity, including carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger fingers, arthritis, joint reconstruction, tumors, ganglion cysts Dupuytren’s disease, trauma, nerve injuries, tendon repair, fracture care, and sports injuries. He has a special interest in reconstructive surgery for thumb arthritis.

Of note:
Dr. Nahra was the first full-time hand surgeon to practice in Lake County, Ohio. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and holds a special board Certificate of Added Qualification in Hand Surgery. Dr. Nahra has served on numerous committees for the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He has authored or co-authored numerous medical book chapters on hand surgery relating to tumors of the hand and wrist, carpal tunnel syndrome, and hand infections. Dr. Nahra has been a long-time reviewer for the American Journal of Hand Surgery.

Education:
Dr. Nahra earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from Case Western Reserve University. He completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at The Ohio State University Medical Center. He continued specialty training at the nationally recognized Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota where he completed a Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery Fellowship. While at the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Nahra was trained by the world’s leading experts on disorders of the wrist and three past presidents of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.

Fun fact:
Dr. Nahra enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, and working on his farm.

Dr. Nahra is originally from Madison, Ohio. Upon completion of his medical training, he moved back to northeastern Ohio in 1993.
