Eric M. Parsons, MD

Arthroscopic Shoulder Surgery / Sports Medicine

Practice focus:
Dr. Parsons’ specialties include sports medicine, rotator cuff repair, and arthroscopic shoulder surgery. He has a passion for the shoulder and the arthroscopic management of shoulder disorders.

Of note:
Dr. Parsons was the first surgeon in Northeast Ohio to perform an all-arthroscopic superior capsule reconstruction, a cutting-edge technique to surgically restore shoulder function to patients with no repairable rotator cuff tissue remaining. Dr. Parsons has been an invited speaker at the Ohio Shoulder and Elbow Society annual meeting where he has shared his technical expertise on the surgical management of complex rotator cuff problems.

Dr. Parsons is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is an accredited fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the Ohio Shoulder and Elbow Society, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Dr. Parsons is an author of research published in the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, the American Journal of Sports Medicine, the Journal of Arthroplasty, the American Journal of Orthopedics, and Knee.

Dr. Parsons currently serves as the surgical Director of Sports Medicine at University Hospitals Lake Health and just completed two consecutive terms as the Chairman of the Department of Surgery at UH Lake Health.

Dr. Parsons was named Physician of the Year at UH Lake Health in 2021.

Education:
Dr. Parsons earned his undergraduate degree from Princeton, his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine & Public Health and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency training in Boston at the Tufts Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program working at Tufts Medical Center and the renowned orthopaedic specialty hospital New England Baptist Hospital. He also completed a sports medicine and arthroscopy fellowship at the The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Fun fact:
Dr. Parsons treated athletes of the championship Buckeye sports teams.

Dr. Parsons is a native of Northeast Ohio.
